About Us

Like many of you who find yourself drawn to this space of horse medicine, I have followed a calling to the path of horses since I was a child.

From a young age, I knew that horses were meant to be a part of my journey. I just wasn’t clear on how.

I spent my summers at riding camps with the majority of my desire to just be around horses. I felt there was something special that happened when I was with them and that didn’t always revolve around riding.

I hid in the stalls with the horses during feeding time and jumped fences to sit in the field with them, finding comfort and connection in their embrace.

My path led me to believing my career would be as a horse breeder and I spent 2 years working in the thoroughbred industry after getting my diploma in equine science production and breeding from Olds College.

What I discovered in the breeding industry was that I wanted to find a path that would honor both horse and human and the connection that was found there. I didn’t know this way existed then, so I followed the desire to my coach training through CTI which led me to find equine assisted learning.

I spent 3 years learning from various teachers in the field, including influence from Linda Kohonvoa through Horse Spirit Connections and FEEL, Chris Irwins, EAPD program, an apprenticeship through Coaching with Horses, and a weekend with Eagala.

I dedicated my time learning about how to facilitate this work and finding a path that resonated with me.

In 2009, I embarked on my journey as facilitator. When I was out in the field, I found myself being led more by how the horses were showing me how to do this work, not by how I was taught.

It took a few years and a lot of prodding and urging from my horses to finally own and embrace the way I was being inspired to lead this path, and through that horse medicine leadership was born. Read more about our philosophy from there.

Since that time, I have successfully grown my small side hustle to a full blown practice, purchasing my dream property in 2015, 80 acres and a retreat center and growing my herd to the current 28 horses.

Since 2009…

Epona Rise Retreat Center has given a home to and welcomed 33 horses as part of our herd of wise equine teachers.

Our own practice includes weaving the horse teachings into our retreat programs, private containers, training, and our online philosophy to honor what these amazing beings bring into our consciousness and journey as human beings.

We believe deeply in the power of this work.

We are passionate about empowering those who are called to the path to own their unique way of being in this journey, while learning how to leverage the horse as teacher in a partnership that honors how we come together to create a transformational experience for those who are called to us.

Our own belief is this... In order for us to give due justice and honor the power of horse wisdom, we must allow ourselves to find our pathway to authentic success and own our voice alongside our herd.
