The Philosophy of Horse Medicine Leadership

The core of our philosophy is centered around the horses themselves, what they teach us, and being able to lead through their lens.

We believe in the simplicity and the power of just being in the space of horses and observing them which allows us the true benefit of receiving their medicine and wisdom in its purity.

It is not our human lens of horse wisdom, but rather letting ourselves be led through the wisdom of horses and their lead.

What we find in the space of horses is not something we can find with people. The power of the horse is that they give us an environment to absorb a different way of being that is outside the dysfunction of our society.

We believe in the potency of letting our herd lead the experience and teach our students how to empower the partnership with the horses to create a transformational experience for their clients.

We learn their language and the wisdom of it, not the other way around.

In this way, we are also honoring the horses as our co-teachers and leveraging their unique individual teaching along with the collective wisdom of the herd.

Where horse medicine is woven into this is here...

We resonate with the Native American teachings that recognize there is medicine in all life, including animals.

We believe that each one of our horse partners, and ourselves, carry a unique medicine.

We put emphasis and symbolism not just on the exchange with the horses as part of how we hold space in this work, but who is delivering the teaching.

This way we are truly honoring each horse as a teacher, allowing them to show up in their uniqueness and to be recognized for what they are contributing to the experience.

We do not facilitate around the activity, rather we utilize exercises, whether that be reflective or active, to empower the teaching and learning that is being delivered by the horse. We are there to interpret, to guide, and facilitate the exchange between our horse partners and our client.

A big core of our teaching is helping our students deepen their understanding of horse language and behaviour and how to co-facilitate with the horses and leaning into the space that they provide for us and our clients, rather than us manipulating the experience.

Horse Medicine Leadership was born alongside the desire of our herd to teach this way and that this is part of our purpose and contribution to those who feel called to this path.

The second piece of our philosophy is here...

We believe we all bring a unique leadership to this work. Our job and role is not to impart our way of holding this space, but rather to empower our students to find their voice and unique way of holding this work with horses.

When we train, our focus is on providing the foundation while helping our students find the clarity of how they will walk this work out into the world, discover what their programs and offerings will look like reflective of the strengths they bring as a person and as a facilitator.

We empower each person who walks into our training to own and find their personal medicine alongside the horses so they are clear how they contribute to this powerful experience we bring to those that are called to it, and feel the confidence of holding it in a way that feels deeply aligned to you.

We don’t learn a model. We learn a way of holding space to honor the teachings of the horse and empowering our voice and leadership alongside of it.

If this resonates with you, we invite you to explore our different trainings and mentorship to find what space feels right for where you are.
